I usually use pen tool and digital pencils (tablet pen) in design software! This is usually the best way for me, because I usually designs motion work, but for 2D designers and painters, they usually draw a sketch before the main stage and work on it.

Every artist has their own style. I would love to know how to draw by hand to do it on paper first.
