in 2017 in preparation for the bitcoin cash fork i pulled so much BTC off coinbase that it drained their hotwallet several times and broke the send/receive functionality for ~10 million users for about 2-3 hours

to be honest, it was more like broken for 24-36 hours :)

I remember helping run that incident over the weekend while at stinson beach with my family.

happy ending: in the end, we got all the transactions out with time to spare.
