Why is Base going to onboard users whereas all prior L1/L2 have not? It is same tech as OP stack (I recently saw that only change is config file). So it doesn’t unlock anything new Sure Coinbase can try to drive traffic there… but to do what that people aren’t already doing?

my quick 2c: 1. marshalling coinbase's resources to scale ethereum and iterate through the onchain UX faster is already hugely accelerating of overall progress (e.g. 4844) - expect this will accrue not just to base but to everything ..

2. there's power in being able to build E2E with a bunch of folks who know / trust / work together. for instance, as we're working towards launch, i'm working in a super hands on way with the CB & CBW teams (along with other wallets) to get end-to-end experience for folks really smooth. that's really impactful!

3. IMO consumer onchain products (e.g. media, games, music, social) are *this* close to accelerating to billions of users and as we hit that inflection point, having coinbase trusted & easiest to use brand association and distribution will accelerate adoption even further.

ultimately, i expect all of this to lead to increased adoption for ethereum L1 and L2 generally with base rising with the global tide. very grateful for the opportunity to contribute and for getting to work with so many amazing people inside and outside coinbase. 🔵

also - separate and distinct from coinbase, base is starting to have a real culture and community of builders which I'm really grateful for and excited about. we gotta find our own way too :)
