Adrienne, that’s beautiful and heartbreaking. People aren’t ready to slow down enough to collect and collate the nuances explained here by Kate Baer. Even if they did, would they be able to exercise empathy for their fellow human? At the risk of falling into the same box, it’s too much for the regular person to process and so they compartmentalize by putting people and situations in nest tidy boxes. If the collective “we” had the capacity to fully understand all people, their situations, and the interplay among them, we’d all be “present” on a higher plane of existence.
