I think many will take this route.  Engaging, participating and being here early to get to the top, made some sense and worked to make the ecosystem grow and had web3 vibes, but buying your way to the top is so preweb and antiquated its kinda sad and not really degen at all. 
I already jumped in and staked before really thinking it through. I'll have to see how it goes.

Hopefully it works out! My way isn't necessarily the right way! I just have lost interest in keeping up with the constant rule changes. I'm busy enough as it is without having to navigate a new way of using an app once a month lol

This feels like a big psychological experiment at this point! Competing for rank/visibility is gross, and now it's clear that you can just buy your way to the top (and it's a more direct path now - no need to engagement farm, just lock degen).

I get that for sure. and I'm finding it a bit frustrating already. Realizing that the rankings are based on % staked now (at least they seem to be) is a turn off.  Flashing that I'm even worried about my ranking is too, lol.  It's def going to have a big effect on things, one way or the other.
