The bat-eared fox, with its 13 cm tall ears, uses exceptional hearing to detect insects underground, which make up most of its diet. They live in family groups, with males playing an active role in raising the pups. Found in arid and semi-arid areas, their populations have expanded to spots like the Cape Peninsula.
