Are they idiots because they can't see the future or some other reason? All you can do is take the data available and make an educated guess. They probably underestimated the central bank's willingness to kick the can down the road and sacrifice the long term for the short term. Plus headlines are usually misleading and try to make these kind of people's predictions sound both more dire and more certain than they actually claim to be to get clicks. To be fair there are the grifter types, I won't name names, who predict calamity every single year until they are finally right on a crash year and then everyone forgets about the twenty times they weren't right and buys their book.

These guys have been calling for a financial implosion for 15 years now. While they do really well, which means they are trading against what they are telling everyone else. So in a way they are smart, and anyone listening to their alarmism is a moron. Watch what they do not what they say I guess.
