In negotiating 101, you learn the term BATNA ("Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement”). Essentially, good negotiating comes down to how well you can strengthen your BATNA. When negotiating with a toddler, you often have no BATNA. It’s fork up the extra Ritz cracker or deal with a meltdown. The cracker seems like a bargain deal.
