we've been talking about @zora for two weeks straight, and like it or not, that's a huge win for them. i don't think zora or @jessepollak deserved all the hate they've gotten recently. if anything, hats off to them for running a wildly successful marketing campaign. people were calling them grifters, writing threads, complaining nonstop โ but all that noise just kept the spotlight right where they wanted it. in this attention-driven market, you all fed the machine its favorite fruit.

it's a good cast, but I don't think Zora expected $Clanker. Clanker has created Bankr, Native, and a whole bunch of other potential stuff, I have no idea what Zora has actually created with this model? (being sincere) "sure, maybe no one expected zora to become base's pumpfun. but when you zoom out, it's clear this has been their north star all along: bringing all content onchain โ in every form and at all costs."

clanker is a bot that works at a social level, and although third-parties created ways to visualize its data, clanker is not a platform where you mint and trade tokens โ it's the underlying tech to launch those. zora is an instagram-like platform that allows you to create (and trade) tokens with many different file formats, way more suitable for standalone content. i wouldn't tokenize $GDUPI the character using zora. same way i wouldn't tokenize a random gdupi-inspired content using clanker. they're two different things โ people just act as if we only need one of them.

I understand, and love the $GDUPI concept. That's what Zora says they are, but I don't see them that way at all; they need a broad market consensus to hit that type of penetration. I am all for experimentation of models, but they pivoted away from NFTs etc into the 'pumpfun space,' for which there was basically zero competition at that time. Now there is, and a lot of it. Rodeo we can mint, Clanker interfaces we can trade, either could easily move deeper into this 'Instagram' territory if they choose. I hear your point, but I still don't think there is evidence that the market needs or wants this model, that's my point.

makes sense, that's why it is an experiment after all โ because there's literally no proof that it will work/market needs the product.
