Base could be the epicenter for unique culture coins 🙂 $Higher is an ambitious movement. $Degen COULD stand for onchain culture. $Based is a way of living.

you have been quiet in degen lately … this is the OG tipping token of the internet, it is way more than ‘onchain culture’ imo … even pumpfun is testing tipping now.

I don't see much tipping anymore & I'm not excited about the l3 or the discussions in the degen channels.. (I guess degen will do well because it reached enough people previously who want to bid again on base, farcaster, or just technicals but really not sure what to be bullish on fundamentally - onchain degening would have been a huge surface area but that's not sth the team is going after)

fair points! you can just flip degen tips up to the L3 tokens if you want, so most will do that. but the point is you still can tip with Degen, I know I do. And that alone for me is enough, as it has scalable infrastructure (including open-source Frames and tools) to scale up to other ecosystems if demand for tipping increases.

yeah I don't like that people can just grab the tips for themselves - that's literally money being extracted (or funded) by people buying degen and genuinely tipping others on farcaster or supporting cool projects, builders, shitposters. It would be a different story if tippers get 10 or 20% of tips themselves. Ultimately, we've got a few genuine tippers but many more that tipped their friends (which is normal bc you see their content) or straight tipped in tipping circles. I always hoped it would evolve towards elevating good content & funding these indie devs, degen/farcaster builders.

I agree with you and think it will come at some point. My guess is that they also are hesitant to add more rules too quickly, as last month they put in tip4tip … Each change comes with some backlash and adjustment, so at some point I think they will add that in, that’s my hunch.

absolutely, communication is key. - in early seasons we had some great updates. - Then farming went crazy & restrictive updates were needed - with staking the iterations ended there was always backlash but leaving it at this stage is a bit weird with little tipping activity, still value leakage (but I assume Jacek felt people put skin in the game and he didn't want to penalize aka change the rules so fast anymore) PS: 15+ tip4tips get you disqualified and you can still go the meme route too - so, not really a hard action. maybe the backlash from farmers was too much to go against it anymore. we'll see how it & similarly moxie develop. tipping, "free money" is great marketing but hype only gets you off the ground. more is needed
