why are we, as purple app users, missing out on all the big CT trends?

not only that, but missing out on massive meta shifts that are happening on OUR VERY OWN CHAIN

how could this be? 

yeah, listen, i don’t know how many times i can say this: there are 5k of us—it has nothing to do with the tech, it has nothing to do with culture—it has everything to do with the fact that there are 5k of us…

this a unicorn app & there are 5k of us… more than 2 years in… and there are 5k of us—made even worse now given the fc top funnel thesis is materializing with the frames upgrade 

culture? culture was the <20k FIDs acting wildly elitist towards newcomers all through february & march 

culture was shunning degen because it spammed your precious 5k user feed—the only project that had sustainably brought in more users

culture was ignoring big CT accounts that came here because “new giants would rise” 

culture was letting bots dilute anything & everything meaningful, including engagement itself

kind of reminds me of back when pepe first popped off in 2023, it was like the only coin that had gone up in two years and obviously a giant deal and people were on farcaster months later being like, 'what's pepe?'

I think that is part of the 'builder' mentality here tho

I think basil's main idea to get capital behind the builders is the main one, better to build the next-gen of stuff of here than just be able to trade it

🎩 first, but I like being part of this experiment that is the Farcaster network. 

my thesis is you won't be a good builder if you have no idea what's happening in the real world. plenty of builders do

ya I agree, but there is plenty of evidence in the startup world over the last decade or two that 'dominating a niche' is the dominant strategy. 

so sure, these random meme coins pop off on CT via Base or Solana, but very little of it is actually innovative at the core; it is mostly marketing. 

here, with the pieces being developed, it is a small niche of the net, but some of the stuff could really be breakout imo. 

better to be in this position than the the opposite. so now is the time to turn on the jets for the 'builders' and focus on distro

fair enough, yah I wasn't talking about ones specific thing or another, and I take your point as what many are saying.  just trying to spitball why it is worth riding it out here (vs. jumping ship).

and probably countless others.  that is what has been discussed. 

but you have also had a few on here that nobody else had (and I have mostly missed from being late)

- Higher
- Degen
- StokeFire

I am sure many, many others you know that I don't.  

There is something to build on here for sure

also fwiw pepe wasn't just a random coin, it was the only thing that had done numbers since 2021 and became a huge narrative. to completely miss it months later felt like industry malpractice.

that's a good question. 

I know they are moving away from that 'decentralized social' branding ...

so I would say it is the combo between "crypto" and "social" in an integrated experience.  payment rails combined with social networking to enable microtransactions and other similar models at scale. 

I would be very surprised if X can execute something similar, but they are moving in that direction and have X payments. 

macro market is the 'creator economy,' so winning the 'niche' would be worth it.
