trying to post about product launches here (i haven't been on for a long time) but now hella confused where to start. Looks like I cannot post in some of the bigger channels anymore? (like @base) Where's the best place to post about product launches?

Channels are no longer default-public spaces and they are maganed by folks for membership.

There is also no boost for distribution of casts if they are posted on a channel or not. 

So — just post on your "home" feed and all your followers will get it!

home feed is a warpcast-centric view of things. is there not a future where some users will look to consume all content in a channel that's relevant to their interests

Being a member of a channel does not mean every cast to that channel appears in home feeds regardless of author.

Most users only see casts in home feed an never visit channel specific feeds (tabs or navigate).

Hence — although posting in a "popular" channel seems like it might get more eyes, reality of usage patterns is that its barely impactful for cast reach.

This is the reason team has been telling community to "just cast in home". No need to overthink which channel to tag a post. They are not hashtags.
