in Read Write Own, @cdixon.eth cites the slow demise of RSS (driven by Twitter and Google) as a cautionary tale of giving centralized orgs too much power RSS 4EVER 💔

Is there a technical reason that RSS could not still power a decentralized content platform - like podcasts but instead it delivers video or other content?

It’s just got me thinking that a podcast apps are generally pretty good and the RSS just sits in the background. Seems like that open protocol could still be used for other experiences and media.

True that. The concept has just captured my imagination since it is this totally open protocol just sitting there. Kind of an everything old is new again whimsy.
