I used to read blogs, newsletters, and news every day. After listening to Bryan Kaplan's manifesto against reading the news, I realized most of my reading was useless and created a false perception of knowledge. I designed a new approach to reading and now feel happier and better informed.

1) Generally speaking, I mostly read books. 2) I read The Economist to stay up on current events. Sometimes I skim Reuters and X to see if I'm missing anything - I'm not. 3) I read Harper's monthly as a treat 4) Every two weeks I scour my RSS feeds and open ~12 tabs for the best writing.

As a result: 1) I enjoy reading much more, because I have more time to reading better writing 2) My writing is improving because I spend more time reading better writing 3) I retain much more of what I read, because what I read is worth retaining 4) Generally speaking, less stressed out
