Announcing the first Farcaster L2: Cast!

After working 6 years on Meta infra for 3 billion users, I knew Farcaster proliferation had to be cheaper - we built it.

Cast today has ~500,000 messages external to Farcaster, with ~30,000 .cast handles, only costing $0.39/year on OP!

What do you mean by a “Farcaster L2”? I didn't realize FC is an L1.

Social protocol L2s are unexplored! We're referring to the analogy of an L1, Ethereum wasn't called an L1 at launch. For millions of people to learn and try Farcaster, an "L2" with small onboarding fees that has data from the Farcaster "L1" is essential!

Also forgot to mention, Farcaster IDs work on Cast - aka they can post directly to Cast! Perfect for those with expired storage or want to save on storage.

Expanded this in the docs, Ethereum has "infinitely free" accounts, if FIDs were free like before they could use the Cast L2 for free!
