Trust vs Hype 

Some days a new app launches. It goes to #1 in the App Store. Everyone goes crazy. People talk about how everything is changing. 

Then a week later it’s gone. 

And I’m reminded why trust and community and relationships are what matter.

We’ve been building XMTP for years. Decentralized and secure messaging is incredibly important for the world. We will have an app be #1 in the App Store someday, but what matters most is the trust to use and build on something that will be here for the future of the internet. 

Wanna spend time with more people playing the long game and working hard to earn and build trust with their community, team, and users.

This quickly sketched graph 📊 not only illustrates how an app should be launched but also serves as a guide for managing any project. In an era where the average meme coin investor’s attention span lasts mere milliseconds, it’s becoming increasingly clear to the crypto community that only products with genuine users and real value will endure, regardless of their token’s price.

Distinguishing between a product with an authentic user base and one propped up by marketing hype, venture capital funding 💸, and market maker manipulation—designed to extract as much as possible from retail investors—is more crucial than ever.

These are just a few thoughts sparked by that visual, which really captured my attention.
