Optimism is a layer-2 (L2) blockchain on the Ethereum network that uses the Optimistic Rollup solution to enhance scaling. Transactions on Optimism are "rolled up" into batches, which are then relayed to the Ethereum blockchain mainnet, which only records the overall state of the blocks.
