**Web3 is About Ownership**

A lot of people ask me why I don’t use Farcaster, and the answer really comes down to one simple fact: you don’t own *anything* on Farcaster.

On Farcaster, usernames are centralized and “storage” is rented. What is storage? Basically everything. Your posts, likes, follows, and profile data all require yearly fees to be paid or else they’re gone forever. This is one of the main benefits of using blockchain for a social graph, and the main reason I can never find real interest in Farcaster.

It’s important to remember that not all products building on Lens Protocol are building with ownership as a priority.
