Studying history is like studying how water moves, the rivers flow and how the waves break; studying the hydrological cycle 

So you can get a better sense of how to ride it instead of fighting it

We can take this to the nth... we can expect water to pool and sink to the lowest point possible. We know this, and yet we still set up camp in a ravine from time to time.
