The lovely @sassal.eth had a clip today where he said protocols planning an airdrop should consider dropping to home stakers - people running solo, DVT nodes, or Rocket Pool mini pools. I'm going to explain why this is a win-win in EV terms. https://youtu.be/SQvyqKKgbx0?si=XT4T_UfBvaFMfs9q&t=152

Ethereum stakers are not miners. The staking community is deeply entrenched in the real Ethereum community. You can find Rocket Pool node operators as devs in protocols from Balancer to /eigenlayer. Even shitcoin traders often have a core staking stash.

It is in the best interest of new protocols to attract the attention of this crowd. Node operators are highly informed technically and are well-capitalized. They make strong stewards in governance since running a node is often some part altruism.
