Currently lido dao has very limited power over the node operators. The worst thing they can do is remove them from the white list and so they stop getting new validators assigned to them. However, the dao lacks a way to force exit them. 

This changes with 7002. Now a contract upgrade could allow the dao to kick nodes

This dramatically expands LDO power over stETH
