Unexpected Acceleration in U.S. Services Activity: ISM The U.S. ISM Services PMI rose to 51.5 in August 2024 from 51.4 in the previous month, beating market expectations for a decline to 51.1, extending the positive momentum in U.S. services activity. New orders continued to rise from the previous month (53 vs. 52.4 in July), reflecting strong customer demand, although production rose at a slower pace (53.3 vs. 54.5), despite a decline in the backlog of orders (43.7 vs. 50.6).
