Money is an energy that shapes our society, but there are others. Let's talk about Trust. Like quantities of money, we can have *qualities* of trust. While low quality trust is often broken, high quality trust can be used as a robust foundation for the future. Quality of trust also shapes our society, and it's rapidly changing. Our social movements and institutions are responding to the shifting qualities of trust. We *crave* more high quality trust as we become burned out from low quality trust. We want to make reliable commitments long into the future. We want to plant trees in whose shade we will not get to sit while being assured that they will be allowed to grow past tomorrow. Some technologies enable us to increase our quality of trust, while others can erode it. We can write to improve understanding, or to sow confusion. For the health of society, quality of trust can be even more important than quantity of money. Let's increase the quality of trust in our lives.

Too bad to trust is to take a risk in itself… can’t know the quality of trust until it is tested

Many mechanisms are tested regularly, some since the beginning of time. We can trust that gravity will continue to behave the same way for a long time. Cryptography also has very reliable fundamentals in math, in which we can trust even more than physics! Similarly, we endeavour to build a smart contract platform with very high quality trust on Ethereum, so we can make economic agreements that span beyond nations and generations.
