We should be skeptical of the statement that L2s *need* tokens. Does it help bootstrap the ecosystem + (maybe) build your own sequencer/prover protocol? Yes. But saying it's a necessity isn't true imo.

Starting to get frustrated with this statement. Teams make decisions to launch tokens. That's fine. But others haven't and are having similar success.
