Miko was borrowed by my neighbors who had just harvested rice, it was really effective they said

The rice barn is inside the house, so the Miko remains safe from surveillance. That's right, the Miko just sits on the pile of rice, it's effective in preventing mice from coming near. And that's a common thing in the countryside.

How does that work?? The rice is stored inside or in a shed and you leave Miko around? Just at night? 

I have heard about cats who work/live at a granary to help protect from mice
