Set up the right incentive structure and take accountability, and so much else follows If you start blaming failure or lack of traction on your users, your employees, your competition, your community… you’ve already lost

multiple email addresses can resolve to the sale place, and so can multiple domains. this isn’t true of a wallet address. IP address seems like the metaphor here, unless I’m missing something

definitely the right decision. bad: - making ~30% of what I did before - miss my friends, mentors there good: - autonomy, ownership, learning *so* much - feel like I’m working on meaningful things nothing can outweigh those latter two things, tbh

quite a few people have brought this movie up recently, anything that brought it back to relevance?

With the amount of cross-posting going on between Twitter, Farcaster, and Poaster… who’s gonna build the Gem of social networks

Didn’t see that Farcaster v2 allows you to use ENS instead of a proprietary name. That’s seems like a great balance. It’d be cool to be able to refer to a user by their ENS even if they have a Farcaster name, though; would help discoverability

I’m a little skeptical that the namespace is what’s valuable, rather than the graph of connections and set of interactions. though there’s something to be said about being early to a platform and getting the name you want, and so there is some incentive structure there

This seems a little incongruent with the next message, though — that’s an incentive for the company rather than the user. I also feel this justification is what’s led to the demise of protocols over platforms (why reuse something when we can do it in-house)

I think the onboarding experience for non-web3 users would be significantly worse if it required ENS, but better for users who are already in the ecosystem. I can see that tradeoff 100% making sense for Farcaster right now, at least.

Love this list so much Listen & enjoy almost all of those artists but been getting more into folk/Americana recently as well. Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, ofc, + more modern stuff too Can be an acquired taste but such a profound genre imho

The people it attracts are very interesting, and though I haven’t built stuff on Urbit, Urbit Assembly was probably the most interesting and intellectually stimulating conference I‘ve been to

instance of your OS on a server, and can host apps that other people can access. And connect to other apps that others are hosting. Right now the most popular app is Groups which is kinda like Discord; you can join different servers and channels in those servers.
