DAO governance is responsibility

MolochV1 was purely grant giving, no “reward” which was the intention but led to decreased engagement over time

even with “rage quit”, the social obligation felt like you can never leave - you don’t want to let others down

some “social DAOs” of V1 era are now sunsetting

Can you say more about the specific Hotel California effect in this situation?

one of those counter-intuitive network effect principles

bootstrap is exclusive : FB w/ Harvard, GMail invite only, etc

once foundation is set - steady state open to all

bootstrap to steady state happening faster than ever

interesting to study Threads b/c it is a levered play

i think it's super important. farcaster has shown that you can build a distribution by shipping a great, invite-only product. and although it has much less users than friend dot tech it's much more sustainable
