I didn’t realize how special this night was when it happened… 

8 years ago I had the chance to mix monitors for Gord Downie and Kevin Drew for a show where they played songs from the Secret Path album for the very first time. 

These songs evolved into a project that highlighted the horrors of residential schools in Canada, told through the story of one boy who tried to escape. The album was accompanied by a beautiful graphic novel and animated film, and is studied in classrooms around the country now.

Gord sadly passed away a couple years after this show, and looking back I’m so honoured I got to meet and work with him for this brief, beautiful moment. Glad to share it here 🫶🏻
