ethereum has mostly clean incentives (on the protocol level) and while the rollups i see are for the most part just oddly framed tokenomics, vc or corporate plays, sharding has been wiped from the roadmap to my knowledge.

open protocols where anyone can run a block producing node is what i want to see. and i think we'd have seen that faster if sharding was the way we went.
