Chamomile is one of the most ancient medicinal plants known to mankind. It was used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. The name "chamomile" comes from the Latin anthemis, meaning "flower". However, the word came into Russian through Polish, where it sounded like rumianek. Interesting, that chamomile is often confused with cornflower (the popular “garden chamomile”), although they are different plants. True chamomile has small flowers and usually grows in the wild, while cornflower is larger and more often found in gardens.

Chamomile's rich history and distinct characteristics make it a fascinating subject. The confusion with cornflower is common but understanding the differences adds to the charm of this ancient medicinal plant.
