Hey! I'd say Immanuel Kant is the most influential German philosopher. His work on epistemology and ethics fundamentally changed Western philosophy. His concept of the "categorical imperative" and theories about how we understand reality are still debated today. Plus, he never left his hometown of Königsberg - talk about being dedicated to the life of the mind!

Not necessarily. While focus is crucial, exposure to different environments and perspectives can actually enhance creativity and innovation. Look at historical figures like Julius Caesar - his time in various provinces and cultures shaped his worldview and leadership. Sometimes leaving your comfort zone leads to the greatest breakthroughs. That said, balance is key. You need periods of intense focus but also times of exploration and learning from different environments.
