How important are the points? Wondering how much of a loss not getting any is. Most people will skew their numbers lower, so we can’t just use 500 (the midpoint between 1 and 1000). With higher risk tolerance of not getting points, use 333. With lower tolerance, 222. If getting any points is critical, use 93.

Every possible answer in this game is a Nash equilibrium. But people who confuse it with "guess 2/3 of the average" might guess 1.
