i once spent a couple weeks in Kosrae, a tiny island in the Federated States of Micronesia. 

a friend of ours lives there and invited us down to chase a big swell. 

the waves were huge barrels draining over shallow jagged reef. well above my pay grade, so i mostly stayed on the boat to shoot pics from the channel.

in between surf (which was pretty much a day-long boat adventure whenever the swells came in), we hiked, snorkeled, SUP'd, and rode jet skis through the mangroves. 

we even took part in their annual New Year's Eve parade.

the island is tiny and reminds me of what kauai might be like way back in the day. green. wet. raw and undiscovered.

The way you describe the island… I can practically feel the humidity and smell the salt. Sounds like an untouched paradise
