after realizing last year that the farcaster events were kinda my faves, i decided to skip the majority of eth denver this year and instead flew in specifically to hit up just the GMfc and main fc parties. 

at the risk of getting spam-labeled for tagging too many folks, here’s a (pretty long) 🧵of my highlights & takeaways.

a tale of two builders:

@derek is a down-to-earth guy building something special with native and the shiny new passport stamp he gave me was worth the trip alone. 

but also, i saw some sneak peeks of what’s on deck and my first thought was “i don’t have enough $NATIVE”

by now, @tldr at eth denver is just farcaster lore and there’s honestly not much more i can add.

but i will say that if he’s even a fraction as good at building Bracket as he is at belting out obscure karaoke tunes, then i most certainly do not have enough $BRACKY.

@anonpapi.eth is everything you think he is. charismatic. infectious. a whole ass vibe. stoked to have had some qt with the papi. will not be the last time.

also had a refreshing convo with @dish that left me feeling pretty optimistic about clanker. overnight success can often crush young project teams and it was reassuring to see how thoughtfully he's thinking about: the treasury, community goodwill, and taking in feedback. bullish on jack & the team.

and totally unrelated, but you should also know that @garrett is a cool cat who can talk his way past any bouncer in denver.

farcade debuted its event-specific tourneys. players scan a qr code then battle other attendees for a spot on the local leaderboard. you get two shots to play, so ya gotta make it count.

i dig this concept bc it somehow felt incredibly social even though you’re technically playing by yourself.

like when me, @robin, and @tayyab locked in for a heated battle of blackhole.

i lost that war, but i’m happy to report i almost beat @chuckstock at his own game and am taking home a pretty 🔥chromatic for my efforts.

fun fact: @ted onboarded me to fc roughly 1,012,441 users ago. ok technically she just hyped it up enough in @boysclub that i slid into dan’s dms for an invite.

two years later, i finally got to meet her irl, and i gotta say - ted really is as genuine and warm as people say she is. she has that gift of making every person she encounters feel appreciated and important. even the small handful of people at a farcaster event who asked “who are you?” and “what do you do?” hahaha. 

i watched her onboard quite a few people this weekend, and well, let’s just say dan made a really good hire.

AND if you don’t know @poymeetsworld, you are missing out on one of the most electric people in all of crypto. world, meet poy 😍

Just saw a demo of the new app @heavygweit and @christopher are cooking.

@christopher & @heavygweit are building a very slick, very intuitive app with uno. in talking with both of them separately, i very much got the sense that all decisions are made with intention, and nothing is half-assed. 

and also they’re just really fun ppl. 

the gravy on top? getting to meet @pris, who is an absolute doll.

and i’m very grateful to have met a ton of other folks this year like @humpty @yes2crypto.eth @aivan @alinaferry @dylsteck.eth @seanwince and a whole lot more.

ending on this nounish prof-inspired thought: 

if you don’t make it (or for some reason can’t get into) FarCon, i highly recommend eth denver as a viable substitute. it’s not a 2-day summit dedicated to the purple app, but in some ways you get a little more bang for the buck.

events aren’t limited in capacity and there’s no real agenda or program, so you can spend 100% of your time talking to and engaging with fellow casters. 

see you there next year =)
