Some thoughts on spam on Farcaster and how we tackle it. 

First question - What is spam?  

The naive answer is "automated activity" but this isn't right. Over 75% of spam we find comes from real humans who have phones, wallets and x accounts. 

The best definition is "inauthentic activity". It's that feeling you get when you realize that someone who is following, liking or replying to is doing it to benefit themselves and not because they're interested in you.

One can still hack or pay for fake validity on these sites IE Twitter, Instagram, TikTok Etc and be a spammer but obtain a high follower count trying to look legit. 

So why choose to use Twitter as a verification over other means? Personally, I only post mints there and have been trying to sunset it for a while. Back when digital NFT art sites made us verify with it I had to create a new account because I had deleted one from 2004 or so which some jabroni took from me as soon as my time to get it back lapsed.

Could there be a new way vs stringing us into web2 again?
