Which leads me to be quite scared of the project: The base tech seems to be decentralized and public, but the real world implementation is everything but, technically, politically and legally. Dishing out perma-bans is super against the ethos of decentralized protocols.

It’s a choice of L2 how closely they couple to L1. Currently 99% of all L2 economic activity is done on loosely coupled rollups (not “based”). Only a concentrated effort to strengthen benefits L2s get from being “based” will reverse this trend.
