how would you compare zora to something like manifold? Do you have your own smart contract, or is it shared?

manifold is great. i really like their auction and burn+redeem tools. zora is creator owned smart contracts, we also have some novel features like gas free creating and first minter rewards. our platform is quite different, we have themed mint pages a feed, following, search+explore etc.

Oh interesting, thanks for explaining! How are you able to have gas free creation on the blockchain? I'm looking for a way to very seamlessly mint mass quantities of writing/images on a different scale than what I would typically use Manifold for (limited editions/ or 1/1s). Paragraph also seems interesting

The first minter is actually the one who brings the mint onchain. We invented the first minter reward, which is 0.000111 ETH for every mint, as a reward for paying the extra gas to bring it onchain. We see ~200K collectors a month, and this design is working very well.

Ahh I see, so it's effectively a lazy mint. Clever to reward the first minter, I like that a lot. I've been looking for a way to bring my newsletter into web3 (from substack) and generally build in a micro-minting, but in a sustainable way. And @zora & @paragraph are linked? What about an existing website for SEO?
