Of the 18 or so people at Merkle, I think I know where 3/18 went to college. College is helpful for career if: 1. You major in something with hard skills 2. In the US, you got to a school that gives you an initial professional network But after your first or second job, most places just care about what you've done at the previous job (or built on your own).

Irony in #1 for me is that Computer Science degree from University of Illinois has been a valuable credential but the stuff I learned there was mostly useless Overly academic and outdated coding (e.g. assembly code!), writing proofs, etc All practical skills were learned on my own or through work
