Do you understand that you’re (rightfully, ofc) praising open source as a way to ‘reduce the risk of proprietary lockin’, yet don’t seem to acknowledge the huge lockin that Etherscan has as a block explorer?
We’re trying to break that with the Verifier Alliance, an initiative started by Sourcify, us, blockscout and other smart contract verification providers, but until the EF gets a precise stand, every chain will continue to use and want Etherscan as the default and (in some cases) the only block explorer “because it’s the default on Metamask” (I literally got this as a reason a few weeks ago)
Some chains even tell us that getting Etherscan is ‘Ethereum aligned’, hence they don’t choose us or any other explorer, for that matter.
Would love to talk to you about this topic, that It really delicate and not discussed enough (I’m trying to talk about it as much as possible from my side) 0 reply
