I’ve been thinking about how the ‘open source’ part of the permissionless requirement we take for granted is actually not permissionless at all. GitHub is part of a corporation, and it’s greatly centralized.

Hosting all the source code of the world in a Git Chain would be the last piece of the puzzle to guarantee resilience and true decentralization for any piece of the ‘supply chain’.

As I understand it, Radicle uses Git as the versioning system, and “just” stores data with a cryptographic signature.

Gitchain was born as a system alternative to Git, that does versioning using a blockchain.

I don’t know if that’s clear, it’s a subtle difference, but it makes more sense IMHO
