I've wanted to try Linux for a while but never took the time to set it up so far. How do I start getting Linux-pilled?

I would definitely go with Ubuntu for a literal first go round. There are many other distributions that may ultimately be more your cup of tea but nothing beats Ubuntu for ease of setup. Over time you can start checking out some of the OSS features like being able to customize your stack all the way down.
