They are acronyms. B is for brackets, and P is for parenthesis. M and D are interchangeable, since they’re treated equally in priority from left to right. PEMDAS and BEDMAS work the same. Therefore when solving 6 / 2 x 3, you divide and then multiply, since it’s left to right.
