We often listen with the intent to reply rather than to understand. This habit emphasizes empathetic listening. Try to really tune in to what the other person is saying and feeling, without rushing to judgment or offering advice too soon.

When you understand someone’s point of view, your own responses and solutions become more meaningful and effective. It builds trust and opens the door to deeper, more productive communication.

Rather than seeking compromise (which often means each party gives up something) synergy leads to innovative solutions where everyone gains more than they expected.
