The dependency on Twitter feels like a massive Achilles heel for the industry. At its best, that’s a bottleneck for adoption and growth because Twitter is forming a very specific demographic profile which may not reflect the best audience for every project. At worst, it’s a single point of failure that would ruin the majority of the industry if it ever became either unusable, unstable, or see a noticeable exodus.
