'let there be light' emerged from our exploration of how the printing press revolutionized knowledge sharing. we chose genesis 1:3 from the gutenberg bible - the passage about light itself - as our foundation, seeing it as a perfect metaphor for how mechanical innovation illuminated minds across centuries.

the final piece presents the bible's two-page spread with the iconic gap appearing only on the right, where 'let there be light' resides. the aged parchment, gothic text, and decorative elements in green and earth tones create this sense of historical gravity. while other pieces in our series use dramatic lighting, this one's intentionally flat presentation emphasizes how simple innovations - like movable type - could contain such transformative power.

it's a meditation on how standardized text became a vehicle for mass enlightenment, showing how technological constraints - the rigid format of printed pages - paradoxically enabled unprecedented intellectual freedom.
