stablecoins are, and always have been, THE necessary first step to any kind of real adoption we are delusional to think that normal people want to hold some internet coin called bitcoin or ethereum, let alone transact in them reality is, way less than 100m people in the world have even the slightest clue about what these things do, let alone why they’re necessary whereas 7+ BILLION people already understand exactly what USD & Euro are & know exactly how to use them & what they’re worth stablecoins bank the unbanked, not bitcoin stablecoins get people onchain, not memes stablecoins move the regulatory needle, not crypto tfw when you realize cb & circle will do far more for crypto adoption than any crypto project …we must walk before we can run

it does not, but I appreciate good conversations on here! I know the stablecoin talking points well and I get the argument, but at the end of the day I think the ability of them to onboard the masses is vastly overstated to me, onboarding people to crypto is about teaching them about the value of financial assets without the dependence on a trusted 3rd party onboarding them with centralized stablecoins entirely dependent on centralized 3rd parties is antithetical to that goal, so I don't count it as progress if we can't give people a use case for crypto that is actually valuable without needing to lean on blatant centralization we've failed so I work on and care about products that are actually decentralized
