Saw this great piece from Richard Garfield (of Magic the Gathering fame) on balance in game design. https://boardgamegeek.com/blog/1/blogpost/169896/the-balancing-act Quite a long read, but full of gems like this: "A game in which the designer is the best player in the world is really more like a puzzle." š„

Not sure I can add to what Garfield said tbh, just an enthusiast not a pro! IMO it's hard. You create rules with possibility for emergent complexity, test them and find the fun, then repeat. I love the idea of on-chain games but this all becomes extra challenging when there's financial incentives to break the game.
