to be honest, not much re: game mechanics😆 
I would say the things that has changed the most is, Gaming has become self aware. It used to be smthg for kids, minor. It's now the n1 entertainment industry in the world, and the naive & crazy spirit is gone. Still live in the indie scene maybe...
