OneCoin was perhaps the most unusual scam in the history of cryptocurrencies. 

In 2016, Dr. Ruja Ignatova attracted thousands of people when she announced that she had developed a cryptocurrency rivaling Bitcoin. The 36-year-old businesswoman, who deemed herself worthy of the title "Crypto Queen", had a very ambitious slogan: 

"In 2 years, no one will even talk about Bitcoin." 

When Ignatova claimed that the OneCoin cryptocurrency she developed would "bring about the end of Bitcoin", the value of Bitcoin, the world's first and currently most well-known currency, had increased to several hundred dollars. Excited investors hoped to be part of the Crypto Queen's "revolutionary" dream. 
Between August 2014 and March 2017, approximately 4 billion euros from dozens of countries flowed into OneCoin. 

She also did not respond to phone calls or messages. Dr. Ruja disappeared with billions of euros. There was no cryptocurrency or anything.

And remember! The "Crypto Queen" is still missing.
