Security Flaws in Apple Chips: Are Your Data at Risk? Security researchers have discovered two new vulnerabilities in Apple’s M and A series chips—SLAP and FLOP. These flaws could allow malicious websites to steal browsing history and credit card data from Safari and Chrome. What are SLAP & FLOP? SLAP (Speculative Load Address Prediction) — affects M2/A15 and newer, allowing hackers to access out-of-bounds data. FLOP (False Load Output Prediction) — affects M3/A17 and newer, bypassing memory security checks. Both exploits take advantage of speculative execution, a mechanism designed to speed up processors. Why is this a big deal? Malicious websites could steal passwords, emails, and payment data. Safari and Chrome on Mac, iPhone, and iPad are vulnerable. Apple has acknowledged the issue and is working on fixes. The company claims there is no immediate risk, but the real question is: will these security patches slow down Apple devices?
